Feast Day of Saint Therese: A Reflection
St Therese, the little flower, who is the patron saint of this blog, happy feast day!
I continue to learn more about you, and my admiration for you grows. How can it be that you knew your specific vocation was to be a nun at the Young age of 15?
You went as far a visiting the Pope in time from France!
I guess when the spirit moves you, he truly moves you!
God knows best
I wondered how your life might’ve been different if your mom had been with you for a few more years? But then I’m reminded that God’s timing is perfect. It wasn’t until after your mother’s death that you began to mature and grow in faith. Isn’t it wonderful that our God knows our heart and desires but always has the best intentions, and if we remain faithful, he will know what is needed to make us be in eternal unity with Him.
You, though young, became a doctor of the church and a patron for missionaries. The former being an incredible honor as we, the people in the world, get to learn so much from God’s working through you! And the latter is something spectacular given that you never left the convent, yet you longed to Spread God’s love.
Your following words give me strength as I, a young person, began to feel God’s calling to things that feel impossible for someone like me:
“God would never inspire me with desires which cannot be realized; so in spite of my littleness, I can hope to be a saint.”
To be a saint
What a delight it would be to be in the presence of the lord for all eternity. If we experience joy and peace here on earth while contemplating God’s being in the Eucharist, I cannot imagine what it will be like when we immerse in God’s presence without distractions or other needs!
God is good. And with all this, let’s pray:
St Therese of Lisieux, you were misunderstood at the convent, yet your faith only increased. Help my heart also fervently to love God beyond any trials I might experience. Remind me that this world is not our final destination but rather an opportunity to bring others to Heaven!
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Proud of you, you are my blessed rock to continue believing in God!
