Inspired by Mother Angelica

Below is a poem I wrote based on the first woman to own a television network: Mother Angelica. I encourage everyone to learn about this pious nun; her story is inspiring. Her charisma and admirable devotion helped me realize the importance of being a vocal Christian. Her faith led her to do the unimaginable, and it opened my eyes to the truth in Matthew 17:20.

Mitigating the Unknown

Breath in

The time has come. Here on my knees, I surrender to the one who heals with ease. I was broken and afraid, yet you restored my heart by the price you paid.

Breath out

The time has come, and I rest assure you’ll guide me home. You always have. You always will. The more tragic life gets the stronger your presence hits. Your light ignites my soul. For hope abounds from the way you console. You always have. You always will.

Breath in

But oh, how it irks my nerves to imagine the numbers of souls we’ll lose to the one who plagues the world with abuse. He lies to the weak then rejoices as they screak. And oh, how my blood boils as they enjoy those worthless spoils.

No. This cannot be.

Your peace I shall transmit till every creature is set free. That radiant love from up above now fuels my heart and sparks my mission. Your servant I will be while professing an act of contrition; that will attest to the power of devotion. Day and night, I will spread the good news even if it elicits a commotion.

Write you say, and so I write. Speak you say, and so I speak. No one will push me aside with you by my side. That is indeed who I’ve become. Against your will all results in scum.

Breath out

The time has come. For you, I’ll roar until the world has seen what you implore. There’s no time to waste. I can hardly wait until I see your kingdom. People need to be unlaced and engorged with wisdom. I will endure until we all are dressed in armor and prepared for battle. So, check off the list once you have the sword of the spirt and helmet of salvation. Only then we’ll be close to beatification.

Breath in

The time will come, no need to rush. You’re always here. You’re always near. No matter what, we do not fear. It’s clear that to the faithful you adhere. Best hold on tight, for it’s a tough fight. But in the end, it’s always alright.
